“I Am Who I Am”

creating prayer spaces plain

In John’s Gospel, Jesus helps us to understand his identity and mission by using “I am” statements. One by one, these statements grab our imagination, reveal more about Jesus’ purpose, and connect us to the God of Moses, who spoke the first “I Am.” These significant, yet ordinary images of bread, light, Good Shepherd, vine, the way, and the resurrection, give us insightful way to experience Jesus anew and point us to a God who wants to be known.  Use this prayer station, to help participants learn which names help them draw closer to God.
