A Call to Prayer Today

In response to the heartbreak and pain of the shootings of Alton Sterling, Philando Castile, and the five police officers in Dallas, TX, The Upper Room is extending a call to prayer at noon today in The Upper Room Chapel (Nashville, Tennessee).

Whether you are here in Nashville or miles away, join us. Let us unite our hearts, minds, and voices as we intercede for our church, our nation, and all around the world who suffer violence.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Sarah Wilke, Publisher and World Editor of The Upper Room

A shared prayer:

There is a balm in Gilead
but we don’t live in Gilead.

We live in Minnesota (#philandocastile)
and Baton Rouge (#‎altonsterling
and Dallas (#‎dallas)
and everywhere in between.

The only balm we have
is one another
and the Love
that binds us.

Love today,
sisters and brothers.

Love tomorrow,
friends and family.

Love forever,
everybody.

There is a balm,
and we can find it.

It is here.
In you.
In me.

Love.
Love.
Love.

Oh Lord, please comfort and ease the pain and sorrow of all of the families affected by violence. Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me.
Lord, In your mercy, hear our prayer. Amen AFW 7-17-16
