A Summer 2015 Intern Feature

Lyn

The Upper Room is often blessed to have dedicated and talented interns and students who spend a summer or school semester—or two—working in various areas of our ministry. In the summer of 2015, we had six interns, and we want to publicly say “thank you” to each of them for the work and energy they each brought to our Nashville, Tennessee offices.

Today, we celebrate Jern-lyn Chong!

Lyn is a junior majoring in English and Psychology at John Brown University in Arkansas. This summer, she worked with our book marketing team, where she has completed a variety of projects including copy-editing book flyers, creating video tutorials to show customers how to download e-pubs, and researching product launches. She said, “Being able to work alongside the marketing team has been truly rewarding and so much fun.” Lyn’s said she loved the positive working environment, and enjoyed working with people who were always ready to listen, encourage, and challenge her. “I never once felt like I was ‘just’ an intern.”

Lyn said she was reluctant about giving up her entire summer break and her one chance to fly home to Malaysia this year, but her work has been enjoyable and meaningful. She has appreciated the encouragement and challenge.

THANK YOU LYN!

Thank you, Linda! I’m not sure if this is Furtado or Bruner, but I’ve enjoyed working with you both so much! We have such a great team in the marketing department, and each one is a unique flavor that blends well with the rest. I appreciate you!

Lyn, I can’t imagine what this summer would have been like without your steady, hardworking presence. You have demonstrated delightful creativity in designing media kits for our authors (you have quite an eye for design), cheerfulness, and willingness to do whatever we asked you to do, always asking clarifying questions when you needed to (but not to the point of being annoying). I predict a bright future for you. Thank you so much for your hard work and your enthusiasm!
    Yay for English majors! 😀

Thank you, Anne, for your kind words and constant encouragement. You’re probably one I’ve worked with the most this summer, and I’m truly grateful for all you’ve taught me. I’ll miss you!!
