The Upper Room is gearing up for the 35th Anniversary of Pockets magazine in 2016. We celebrate that children, families, and congregations have found spiritual nourishment through the pages of this resource through the years!
Here is one example of a congregation that incorporates Pockets in family worship experiences:
Englewood UMC in Ohio uses Pockets as the centerpiece of their family worship service as a part of their congregational revitalization program. Pastor Kim Armentrout uses Pockets themes in her sermons during the family service. Each family takes home a copy of the magazine and is encouraged to use it as their family spiritual formation resource. Children in the church’s childcare program also receive copies along with an invitation to attend the family worship service.
“We just love Pockets, and we’re always excited to get our copies,” Pastor Armentrout says.
