When You Pass through Waters

Thus says the LORD, . . . who created you,

Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;

I have called you by name, you are mine.

When you pass through the waters I will be with you;

and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you;

when you walk through fire you shall not be burned,

and the flame shall not consume you.

. . . you are precious in my sight, and honored, and I love you.

—Isaiah 43:1-2, 4, NRSV

Hurricane Harvey continues to devastate communities in Texas and surrounding states. Yesterday, Harvey arrived in Tennessee. Our hearts are heavy with concern and compassion for those who have been affected. We pray for the victims, the first responders, those who care for the souls of people who are grieving everywhere.

For those who have financial resources to share, we invite you to send money to our friends at the United Methodist Committee on Relief at Designate your gift to U.S. Disaster Response, Advance #901670.

If you are in the Nashville area, mark your calendars for the weekly service of worship on Wednesdays at 10:45. On September 6, we will celebrate the wonder of creation as we are led by the Youth and Young Adult Spiritual Formation Programs team of The Upper Room.

If you are—or will be—in he Nashville area in the coming weeks, we would love to have you worship with us:
